T.O. time in Philly
Ah, NFL training camps have started. The Terrell Owens era in South Philly is going to be a wild ride. The last big name player to come over from San Francisco and suit up for the Eagles was Ricky Watters. Owens is getting a lot of cheers at camp right now, but the regular season is when it counts. It's good for Owens to reflect on Watters' first game as an Eagle (link)
It didn't help when, in his first game in Philadelphia, he gained only 37 yards on 17 carries and appeared to not give much effort toward catching a pass thrown in his direction in a dismal loss to Tampa Bay, and when questioned later uttered the words "For who? For what?" that many fans would never forget in spite of later accomplishments.
The fans in Philly are not interested in either Sharpie's or excuses. They are not as friendly as the fans you remember in San Francisco. They want a Super Bowl victory, and they want it yesterday. They are irrational. They are angry. And oftentimes, they are drunk as hell. But if you win that Super Bowl, you can pretty much choose where to put that statue of yourself outside the Linc.
