Bubba is dead

A moment of silence, please. He was a behemoth. He was an inspiration. He was a crustacean.

"Unbelievable," Wholey said when he learned of Bubba's death. "He left here happy, alive and kicking."

In the words of William Shatner, "Lobster... sticks to magnet. Permanently."

I am glad this article has brought to my attention the existence PETA's Fish Empathy Project. In the same way that I'd be glad if someone pounded nails into my skull while I rolled around on glass shards covered in mustard.

"Hopefully, Bubba's legacy will encourage people to think of animals as individuals."

I suspect people who believe they can deduce the mood of and/or communicate with mollusks, crustaceans, flatworms or anything else outside of chordata probably fall into the "I watched Bambi one too many times and now I'm retarded" crowd. Although to be fair, this Wholey guy just wanted to eat the damn thing and it's really the PETA guy I'm talking about here. But... Fish Empathy Project. Has that hit you yet? I think several of my neural pathways just caught on fire. (I apologize for seeming condescending lately, but it's hard to resist here.)

Do not go gentle into that good night, sir Lobster!
