The Children are Driving the Bus

What an incredible example of how pathetic the traditional media has become. This is Michael Hirsh in Newsweek:

But at least the GOP is engaged in a war over real policy choices. It is an emotional debate, often a hysterical and ill-informed one, but it is a fight among adults who know what they believe in and who have the guts to battle for it. By contrast the Democrats, ostensibly the party poised to exploit this GOP civil war, don't seem to remember what it is like to behave as adults. They resemble nothing so much as ill-adjusted adolescents, afraid of their own shadows, much less the presidency.
So let me understand this. In order to act like an adult, you have be hysterical, ill-informed, and belligerent? But if you act with deliberation and moderation, and try to understand the complexities of the problems we face, you're an ill-adjusted adolescent. What the fuck!? All this time, I thought adulthood was about being responsible and not just believing things because we want to believe them. Holy shit, was I wrong on that! I guess if I want to be more grown up, I should start screaming at people who don't agree with me that wearing hats gives you cancer and that people on the moon are planning to attack us.

What an unbelieveable retard. Who gave this clown a column?

UPDATE: I re-read the column this morning, and I have to admit, there are some points that Hirsh makes that I do agree with (especially some of the criticism of John Kerry). But this notion that Hillary Clinton represents what the average Democrat is saying is fictional. It's driven by the media. Many Democrats (and just about everyone in the grass roots) are starting to say exactly the things that Hirsh says they're not saying, but the media ignores them. Either way, that has nothing to do with whether or not you're being more "grown-up," which is a particular sore point with me, as we've become a nation run by children.
