Inconceivable

Instapunchline weighs in:

I notice some blogs complaining about the fact that area police are now guarding mosques as well as synagogues. That seems to me to be a wise, though likely unnecessary, precaution. The chance that someone will shoot up a mosque in retaliation here is low, but if it happened it would make things much worse. It seems smart to try to ensure that it doesn't.
Of course it's likely unnecessary. Most security is likely unnecessary. It exists to prevent that rare unpredictable situation. But it's worth noting how quickly Reynolds forgets about these people who reacted to 9/11:

15) One man stormed into a South Seattle mosque and threatened to burn it down. Another poured gasoline on a North Seattle mosque and tried to fire a gun at some of its members. (Seattle Times/Detroit Free Press)
