The War on Ethnic Americans

Alex Coolman has a really interesting post on some alcohol prohibition history that I wasn't aware of. Former New York mayor Fiorello LaGuardia was a very outspoken critic of alcohol prohibition, even going so far as to tell people how to make their own spirits. One of the reasons he did so is because he saw prohibition as a war on ethnic Americans.

It all seems very similar to today, except that there's no one with LaGuardia's courage stepping up to the plate.
